Do your research! Take a walk and observe birds. Can you find their nests?
On my walk yesterday, I saw a male and female cardinal. It looked like they were picking up grass and taking it into a tree- NEST BUILDING!
Carry your sketchbook with you or a piece of paper. Draw what the grass, twigs and nest building materials look like. Imagine how the birds put it together and draw it.
This will be your "Before" Sketch.
Collect the items you drew and make a nest!
Afterwards, observe the nest you ACTUALLY created draw your nest how you see it.
Take notes, which items stayed together and which items were not very helpful in your nest building adventure.
Send me photos of your nest sculptures and drawings! With parents' permission I'll post your work on our Class Website Gallery!
