Throwback Thursday: Today I am going to share with you Ms Kit's Artroom Episode 1: Line. Her 80's inspired variety show uses ART, Movement, Song and Dance to explore the Art Elements. Let me know if you create any L-I-N-E-S today ✏️AHHhh!
Cupcake Card: Drawing and Alternative Watercolor Medium If you don't have paint, did you know you could find items in your kitchen to paint with!? Painting with coffee is very similar to painting with water color. Last week I shared various watercolor techniques, so that we could take a jab at using more unusual ways to paint-like with COFFEE! Some tips I have to say is, let the water soak in the coffee grounds to allow it to start coloring the water. AND HAVE FUN, painting food with food. I also refer to Wayne Theibaud as my artist influence (I posted about him on THROWBACK THURSDAY) Look forward to more FOOD artist inspirations and art food recipes throughout this week in my posts! I am so happy Mrs. Ellis invited me to do a mini-art lesson with her class. They have been learning plane and solid shape while exploring the vertices and edges. Through guided drawing led by me, we warmed up our math and art skills. Together we created the following shapes: Cube, Cylinder, Cone and Sphere. To make our sphere appear 3-dimensional we incorporated the art technique of value shading. Amazing results! Great way to end the week! Click the Video below. Try drawing solid shapes yourself! ART HISTORY/CULTURE Let's throwback today and learn about a very interesting and talented American Artist Wayne Thiebaud. Next week I will be sharing a lesson greatly inspired by his work. What about his paintings inspire you?
Watercolors are a fun medium to experiment in. Having a heavy paper to work on as well as brushes that soak water well will have amazing results.
Check out "The Kitchen Table Classroom" www.kitchentableclassroom.com/watercolor-techniques-kids/ You don't have watercolors? Use old markers as shown in this video:

Toilet Paper Roll Crafts If you try this Star Wars Themed lesson, please ask an adult for help using the hot glue gun!
I have been starving to show you how easy it is to make art from items around your home! Today we are going into the kitchen to feed our creative hunger. Salt Dough Clay, can be messy but it sure is fun to explore! Below you can see how I create flat 2-dimensional cupcakes and one 3-dimensional stand up one. I was inspired by the art teacher Cassie Stephens Salt Dough Unicorn. If you want to try that lesson here is a link to her site: cassiestephens.blogspot.com/2020/05/wizard-week-salt-dough-unicorn.html?fbclid=IwAR1OXJuctfpjzmytTi6iUnIET19-MvJ8WWTnR6OkJN2RqJ6ROy0wyIBLSxA My first time trying DIY ScratchART... I hope you try this lesson yourself and have fun! I was inspired by my 5th grader MAX , who asked me this year, if we could go back and recreate the scratch art koala bear lesson. We never got a chance in class but now it can be made at home! Let me know what you think!
